B2B E-COMMERCE PLATFORM WITH OPTIMISED DATA MANAGEMENT

Challenge: Scaling & Digitalisation

Many B2B retailers struggle with managing complex product data and meeting customers’ growing expectations for a seamless shopping experience.

Klocke faced this challenge too: the existing shop platform was technologically outdated, product information was disorganised, and process automation was urgently needed. In particular, managing 25,000 items with 165 product attributes and numerous variants required a well-designed data structure.

The aim was to minimise sources of error, optimise administrative processes and create a modern shopping experience.

EFFICIENT DATA MANAGEMENT & IMPROVED USABILITY

Our approach: a future-proof B2B platform

To create a future-proof and high-performance e-commerce platform, burgdigital developed a comprehensive redesign and technological upgrade for Klocke based on Shopware 6. The existing Shopware 5 shop was fully migrated to deliver modern, intuitive user guidance and high performance – particularly when dealing with extensive product catalogues.

In addition to the technical migration, the relaunch also included a new design and theme concept: the responsive design ensures optimal use across all devices, supports a seamless customer journey and forms the basis for efficient data management, enhanced B2B functionalities and a scalable shop architecture.

Seamless data integration with BIM and the new PIM system

One of the biggest challenges was synchronising extensive product data. Klocke’s new PIM system serves as the central data source for structured and consistent product information.

Real-time data flow and precise synchronisation with BIM

Through the direct connection to Burgdigital Import Middleware (BIM), this data – together with price and stock information from the ERP system and customer-specific data – is seamlessly integrated and made available in Shopware 6 in real time.

Efficient integration for seamless scalability

The optimised system architecture not only significantly improves data quality but also reduces maintenance effort to a minimum. At the same time, it enables flexible scaling, so that future brand extensions such as flingora.de can be seamlessly integrated into the existing system.

Dynamic Pricing & Discount Logic

Advanced pricing and discount structures accurately reflect individual customer terms and simplify the implementation of bespoke offers. Tiered pricing and product-group-specific price scales enable volume-based discounts and centralised logic per product group – supplemented by individual models for different customer segments.

Structured New Customer Process with Approval

New customers register via an online form and are then manually verified. Once approved, individual terms and conditions are automatically transferred from the ERP system and stored directly in the shop – ensuring that only authorised business customers can place orders, whilst reducing administrative effort and ensuring high data quality.

Automation for Europe-wide shipping and tax logic

An enhanced shipping and tax logic has been implemented to ensure the efficient processing of international orders. The system automatically calculates shipping costs based on region, product size and weight, thereby ensuring accurate and transparent pricing. Furthermore, tax calculation for EU and non-EU countries has been optimised to reliably reflect country-specific tax requirements.

Optimised processes for seamless internationalisation

The introduction of this automated logic facilitates expansion into international markets and minimises administrative effort. The scalable solution supports Klocke in sustainably expanding its market position and offering its customers a first-class digital shopping experience.
