NO SALE WITHOUT COMMISSIONING
Planning an air conditioning system is complex. Different room sizes require different units, and accessories and outdoor units depend on location and type of installation. In addition, an EU regulation generally prohibits selling air conditioning systems without having them commissioned by a specialist company. Sales can therefore only take place in combination with installation or at least final approval by a certified installer.
E-commerce platform with Shopware 6
For KLIMA24-DIREKT, a Shopware Evolve solution with a guided configurator was implemented: users enter the installation location, room data and type of installation and receive a suitable air conditioning system including accessories and services. The radius check takes place early in the process, and appointment scheduling for delivery and installation is handled directly in the checkout.
From a technical perspective, the configurator is a custom Shopware plugin that maps products via their attributes, calculates services and controls the appointment logic through an interface.
Based on an e-commerce strategy, burgdigital and the client jointly developed the KLIMA24-DIREKT brand. Under the KLIMA24-DIREKT online offering, customers receive all products and services related to air conditioning systems.
When purchasing a unit, prospects are guided through a step-by-step query in the configurator. The questions are kept simple to identify the right offer for the user’s individual needs and requirements. The result covers the complete air conditioning system including services and additional accessories.
The first step is to ask for the project location, as the specialist company only operates within a defined radius. Once a configured air conditioning system has been purchased, an appointment is then scheduled for delivery and installation.

The online shop was built on the Shopware Evolve platform. Products and services are maintained manually by the client in the shop system and are not imported via a data interface. The configurator assigns the correct options based on the stored product attributes.
The configurator was implemented by burgdigital as a dedicated Shopware plugin. Based on the rooms entered, their sizes and the selected installation type, suitable components are suggested to the customer.
Once the installation type and distance to the installation site have been selected, the service price is calculated automatically. Appointment scheduling is then handled in the checkout based on stored business logic, which the client can adjust via an interface.

KLIMA24-direkt quickly gained acceptance with the target group. Using the configurator, customers can easily plan their air conditioning system, including accessories and installation, directly in the shop. They receive a total price 24/7 and complete their planning with an immediate appointment booking.
This not only delivers excellent service, it also significantly reduces the strain on internal resources. For planning simpler air conditioning systems, staff will even use a special solution within the shop in future, enabling them to create and process quotes directly via the e-commerce platform.
